How do I get a WEX fuel card personal identification number (PIN)?

What are the steps to refuel a fleet vehicle when traveling?

Environment

• Refueling a vehicle when traveling

Resolution

1. In order to refuel Fleet & Travel Management (FTM) vehicles, the driver needs to use a new WEX fuel card with a personal identification number (PIN).
   • If you have not received a PIN by email then call FTM office at 605-773-3162
   • The State of South Dakota, Bureau of Human Resources and Administration will email you a PIN 

Steps for fueling are:

1. Use state fuel pumps with key fob when possible
2. If retail fuel is needed, insert the WEX fuel card at the pump

• Enter your PIN #
• Insert correct odometer reading
• Select correct fuel type and begin fueling
• WEX cards are setup to allow for the purchase of car washes, washer fluids, oil etc., if needed
• It is recommended to test your PIN for the first time, prior to departing on long trips to assure there are no issues
