Resolution

+ Moving-In and Checking-In

Move-in Day is always the Friday before the first day of classes in August (the date varies each year). BHSU Residence Life will provide students with an active housing assignment that includes instructions for obtaining their room keys and a daily schedule. Traditionally, students check in at the Jonas Hall Parking Lot and then report to their assigned residence hall or apartment. Residence Life Staff will be at all locations to assist in the process.

Residents are considered checked in when they obtain their room/suite key and complete/sign their room inventory with a Residence Life Staff member. Refunds (if necessary) will be calculated using the date on their room inventory.

+ Moving-Out and Checking-Out

Students are required to move out and check out at the end of finals week each semester. Move-out dates vary based on a student’s finals schedule. Residence Life asks that students plan to move/check out within 24 hours of their last final, or by 6:00 pm on the Friday of Finals week, whichever comes first.

  • Students may leave their belongings in their assigned space over Winter Break, but must fully vacate their room over Winter Break.
  • Students in Wenona Cook and the Yellow Jacket Apartments do not need to move/check out until the end of Finals Week in May; they remain open from August to May.

When vacating their assigned room/suite, residents must check out with a member of the Residence Life Staff to review/sign their room inventory, have their room inspected for damages beyond “normal use wear and tear,” and return any assigned keys. Residents agree to follow proper check-out procedures when moving out or relocating to another space on campus. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Removing personally owned furniture and equipment,
  • Removing all waste and debris, and
  • Leaving the room/suite in the same condition as when accepted, reasonable wear and tear accepted.
  • The resident is responsible for cleaning.

Maintenance or repairs required to return premises to the same condition as when accepted are accomplished by BHSU Facility Services personnel and are billed accordingly
