You would like information about on-campus housing during summer break at BHSU.

Resolution

Utilizing the Yellow Jacket Apartments, BHSU Residence Life offers limited housing options during summer break. Please review the information below if you’re interested in learning more.

Dates & Application

  • Summer housing period: May 11, 2026 - August 21, 2026
  • Application opens: March 9, 2026
  • Deposit requirements: Current on-campus students: No deposit needed (carries over from academic year)
  • Off-campus/new/SDBOR students: $100 deposit required with application

Eligibility Requirements

  • Applicants must have an active student ID and meet all of these criteria:
    • Be a current student actively registered and taking BHSU courses at time of application. Incoming first-semester students are ineligible.
    • Transfer students may apply if meeting additional criteria
    • Maintain good financial and academic standing with BHSU
    • Have positive rental history with Residence Life (if applicable)
  • Plus one of these criteria:
    • Registered for the current summer term or the upcoming fall term, or
    • Employed on the BHSU campus, or
    • Completing an internship from SDBOR-affiliated institution
    • Priority given to BHSU students

Summer Housing Costs

  • Double occupancy: $1,995.00 ($133/week or $19/day)
  • Single occupancy: $2,970.00 ($198/week or $28/day)
  • Based on SDBOR-approved rates, calculated daily for 103 days

Payment Information:

  • Costs added to Student Billing Account during first week
  • Pay through Accounts Receivable (605-642-6480) or via SD EZ-pay within Student SNAP

Accommodations

  • Yellow Jacket Apartments are used for summer housing.
  • Partially furnished 3-person, 2-bedroom units.
  • No meal plan options are available during the summer.
  • Students without a Fall 2025 housing contract by July 1 must move out by July 31.
  • Space is limited; a waitlist will be created once capacity is reached.
