Resolution
Black Hills State University and the South Dakota State University College of Nursing have partnered with Monument Health and the West River Area Health Education Center to offer nursing education in western South Dakota. The partnership is called the West River Health Science Center. Students complete their pre-nursing requirements at BHSU as an Applied Health Sciences student and then transfer seamlessly to SDSU's Standard BSN program in Rapid City. All BHSU Applied Health Science students who meet the minimum requirements for the Rapid City Standard BSN program will be guaranteed a seat in the program.
Dual Advisement:
Students wishing to participate in dual advisement will have an SDSU College of Nursing advisor assigned to help them through the nursing application process. It is recommended to add a dual advisor in the semester before you wish to start the nursing program. To add a dual advisor, fill out this form: https://bhsu.tfaforms.net/217909.
Advising Guide:
Students in the Applied Health Science program planning to transfer to SDSU's Standard BSN program should follow this advising guide.
