Issue/Question
How do I request Admin Rights?
Am I able to request Admin Rights on my BHSU Issued Computer?
Environment
BHSU Owned Computers
Cause
I would like to request Admin Rights
Resolution
Admin Rights is granted to employees who require it for work. To request Access you must fill out an Application and submit it to the Help Desk. All Applications are carefully reviewed by the Network and Computer Services team to ensure that access is granted only to authorized personnel and to maintain the security of our Network.
Incomplete forms will be denied access. Please return completed forms to the BHSU Help Desk and allow up to a few business day for the application to be reviewed. If you have any questions, please contact the BHSU Help Desk.
If your request for Admin rights has been approved, It is still expected that you request permission before installing software not supported by BHSU. To check if the software you're wanting to install is supported by BHSU, please check out the Supported Software article.

- In the upper right corner, Click into the file like icon within your Menu Bar.

- Then Click on Request Admin Privileges

- You will then be Prompted to sign in with your BHSU credentials.
- After signing in, you will be prompted to select why you need Admin rights
- Software Config
- Installing or Setting up Software Permissions
- System Settings
- Enabling or Disabling a System Extensions
- Managing Drivers
- Other
- You'll be asked to list the reason
- After selecting the reason, click on Continue
- A 15 minute timer should then appear in the Menu Bar. This represents the amount of time you have left for Admin Rights.

Potential Errors:
+ Time Tampering Detected
If you run into an Error stating "Time tampering detected." after Step 5 and don't get a timer in the Menu Bar. Please follow the steps below:
Open up the BHSU Self Service application and sign in with your BHSU Credentials. You should then be able to navigate to Device Configuration underneath Browse and find the Policy Clear TimeTampering. This will run a command that should help clear out that error.

Time tampering is caused when the user tries to alter their date and time settings. It sets off a warning in JAMF and denies Admin Privilige Request until it is cleared out.
If you do not see Clear TimeTampering as an option in BHSU Self Service after signing in, It is a good sign that the changes we implemented are yet to take effect.
