Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team at the BHSU Help Desk. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for assisting users with issues related to computer use and account management. Our ideal candidate is someone who possesses customer services skills with an eagerness to learn. We also accept students with Federal Work Study.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist users in setting up and managing their BHSU accounts and understanding basic computer operations.
  2. Provide friendly and efficient customer service to users experiencing difficulties with computer systems and software.
  3. Guide users through troubleshooting steps and processes, ensuring they feel supported and listened to throughout the interaction.
  4. Offer clear and simple explanations to users, avoiding technical jargon, to ensure understanding.
  5. Collaborate with team members to improve user experience and service delivery.
  6. Keep accurate records of interactions, issues, and resolutions.

Requirements:

  • No prior technical expertise with computers required; training will be provided.
  • A strong emphasis on customer service skills, with an ability to empathize and effectively communicate with users.
  • Patience and a willingness to assist users with varying degrees of computer literacy.
  • Willingness to learn about computers, how they operate, and how to troubleshoot them.

Work Schedule:

  • Business hours are Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
  • Limited to 20 hours a week; if you are an RA it is 10 hours a week.
  • Opportunities for summer work are also available.
