Issue/Question

I need to set up a Zoom call through the Web Client.

Environment

  • Internet
  • Laptop

Cause

Setting up Web Zoom Meeting for the first time.

Resolution

  1. Go to bhsu.zoom.us and click Sign in.

  2. Sign in with your BHSU email address and password.

  3. Once you open the program you will see:

  4. On the left side of the screen click Meetings:

  5. Click the blue Schedule a Meeting button:

  6.  Enter your meeting information:
    • Topic- give your meeting a name
    • Enter the meeting date, start time, and duration- Student meetings are limited to 40 minutes.
    • Meeting ID- leave as “Generate Automatically.”
    • Password- you can require one or leave it blank.
    • Video- these are settings for how the host and participants will first enter the meeting. They will be able to turn on/off their video once they are in the meeting.
    • Audio- you’ll want your participants to connect via Computer Audio, but you should leave the setting to allow for both Telephone and Computer Audio, just in case someone has issues with their microphone/speakers.
    • Under Meeting Options- you’ll decide if you want participants to enter the session before you, if you want them to join the session muted, and if you want the session automatically recorded.

  7. After selecting your settings, click Save.

  8. Your meeting will now show up under the Upcoming tab.
    • To Edit any meeting details click on Edit
    • To share or add this meeting to your calendar click on the title of your meeting.

  9. Once you are in the meeting your screen will look like this:
    • In the bottom left, you can control your video and audio settings
    • Under Share in the middle, you can share your screen or have others share their screen.
    • Under More, you can find how to record your Zoom call and more.
Please submit a ticket if you need further assistance.
