Issue/Question
How can I change my housing assignment or get a new roommate?
Environment
BHSU Residence Life; Residence Life Form
Cause
You would like information about how to change your housing assignment or get a new roommate.
Resolution
To change your housing assignment or find a new roommate, residents must complete and submit a Hall/Room Move Request form online.
- Please be as complete as possible when completing the form. Providing incomplete information could slow the process or prevent your request from being granted.
Completing this form puts you on the Hall/Room Move list.
Residence Life Staff review the list of requests to determine which can be accommodated and which cannot at this time.
Requests are granted based on the submission date and available space.
- Example: A request for a single may be approved before a roommate change, because the student getting a single creates an available space for the requested roommate to move in.
A resident may change rooms/suites only with permission and approval from their Complex Director or the Director of Residence Life.
Unauthorized room/suite changes or failure to move out of a room/suite when required may result in additional charges and disciplinary actions as determined by the University.
BHSU Residence Life employs a two (2) week “move hold” at the beginning of each semester. During this time, there are no room changes unless approved by the Complex Director or Assistant Director of Residence Life.
After the initial room change window closes (weeks 3 and 4 of each semester), all room changes initiated by a resident will carry a $100.00 Room Move Charge.
