Can't download Policy Key
Environment
Cause
There might be an existing policy key installed which interferes with Wi-Fi access.
Black Hills State University adheres to the South Dakota Board of Regents Acceptable Use Policy, 7.1. The Chief Information Officer or designee, is responsible for the annual and ad hoc review of this policy and its procedures. The University President or designee, is responsible for formal policy approval. (6/29/2018)
Resolution
- Connect to Wi-Fi
- Open a browser and navigate to safeconnect.bhsu.edu.
- A separate tab should come up showing the SafeConnect Policy Key download
- Click the blue "Download" button
***For PC Users
- Install the file by clicking on the .exe file
- If your device gives you an download error, select "more"
- Then select "Run Anyway"
***For MacBook Users Only
- Click the “Downloads” icon in the upper right of the browser and double-click the “SafeConnectMacInstaller.pkg” to start the installation.
- If your MacBook denies the download, navigate to your system preferences.
- Under Security and Privacy go to the General tab
- At the bottom of the window there should be an "allow anyway" Click this.
- You may have to do this twice
Installation Continued
- Click the “Continue” button on the Introduction screen.
- Click the “Continue” button on the Read Me screen.
- Click the “Continue” button on the Destination Select screen.
- Click the “Install” button on the Installation Type screen.
- Provide the password to your MacBook.
- Click the “Close” button on the Summary screen.
- Once you have installed the Policy Key, click the blue “I’m done installing” button. You will then be redirected to the Black Hills State University website. This indicates that you are successfully connected to the Internet.
